"Upholding Justice, Empowering Progress."

As SARC Law Chambers we acknowledge that “Laws and principles are not for the times when there is no temptation: they are for such moments as this, when body and soul rise in mutiny against their rigour ... If at our convenience we might break them, what would be their worth?”
Our existence as Law firm is on the fact that 'Tanzanian legal practice is not the norm but rather the exception. The advocates spend a significant amount of time prosecuting criminal cases. The Tanzania Judicial Systems Review Commission noted that because there are so few and expensive private attorneys, very few people take advantage of their services. In Tanzania, the parties themselves handle the majority of the cases. Even in criminal proceedings, there is no access to legal representation unless the case is covered under the Legal Aid (Criminal Proceedings) Act, which is typically the case when dealing with crimes that carry the death penalty. This is because there is no comprehensive legal aid program'.

Mode of Engagement

Our clients normally engage us through either retainer agreements where SARC and the client would enter into a contract for engagement for a specific duration at a retainer fee to be agreed by the parties. SARC attends to the client’s instructions as and when they arise and would thereafter submit an invoice for the services rendered. On the other hand, SARC may enter into a contract for professional engagement for performance of a one-time specific issue and the parties will agree on the payments.
